Eduardo Paolozzi

1924 - 2005

Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, CBE studied at Edinburgh College of Art, the Slade School of Fine Art and University College London. After his studies, he travelled to Paris where he became acquainted with Alberto Giacometti, Jean Arp, Constantin Brancusi, Georges Braque and Fernand Léger.

He first came to public attention in the 1950s and was a founding member of the Independent Group, regarded as the precursor to the British and American Pop Art movements. He was an inveterate collector of models, books, magazine cuttings, tools, toys and other found objects which he integrated into both his graphic and sculptural work.
