Lorraine Robbins
Jerwood Drawing Prize-winner Lorraine Robbins is the first guest curator to be invited to work with Gallery Pangolin. Her show 'Strange Beasts: Lynn Chadwick and the New Generation' opened in June 2011.
In a series of recent self-portraits she explores what the self means in contemporary western society. Using herself as the subject, Robbins' finely detailed drawing style emphasises surface and technique rather than expressive mark-making. This acts in stark contrast to the subject matter which is often intentionally emotive or challenging.
